Partnering Through ParticipACTION
ParticipACTION, the national voice for physical activity and sport participation in Canada, was relaunched in 2007 after six years of dormancy. Originally established in 1971, ParticipACTION was one of the longest running communications campaigns to promote physical activity.

ParticipACTION’s vision is to ensure a Canadian society where people are the most physically active on Earth. To achieve this vision, ParticipACTION sees itself playing key roles in four areas. First, it will play a leadership role to support the sector by generating sponsorship funds from private partners and by working corroboratively with government, sport, physical activity, and recreation NFP partners to ensure initiatives are united and coordinated. Second, it will continue to promote physical activity and sport participation through communications campaigns that inspire Canadians to be more active and inspire society to make it easier to be more physically active.
Beyond public awareness of physical inactivity, ParticipACTION will also support public education and knowledge exchange. Through research, evaluation, and communications, ParticipACTION
will provide information about the issue across the sector and to all Canadians. Finally, it will advocate for policy and action that supports physical activity and sport participation in Canada and sets the stage for long-term sustainable change. ParticipACTION plans to address all Canadians and will have specific campaigns targeting children/youth, older adults, people with disabilities, and Aboriginals.
