Join Sarah Leavitt as she reads from her book Tangles, forthcoming from Freehand Books in fall 2010. Tangles is a graphic memoir—that is, it’s written in comic book form—and tells the story of Sarah’s mother Midge, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 55. Sarah will talk about the process of writing the memoir and read an excerpt, accompanied by slides of the pages. There will also be time for questions and discussion.

Sarah Leavitt’s writing and comics have been published in Geist, Modern Dog, the Georgia Straight, Vancouver Review, Xtra West and the Globe and Mail, as well as in anthologies, including Nobody’s Mother (Heritage 2006) and Beyond Forgetting: Poetry and Prose About Alzheimer’s Disease (Kent State University Press 2009). She has an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC. More at www.sarahleavitt.com.
