UVic Forum Looks at What it Takes to be a Healthy, Happy Senior
On April 16, a public forum was hosted by the University of Victoria's Centre on Aging. Experts discussed the latest research in the field of aging including caregiving, exercise and the brain, seniors’ medication use, and the identification of age-friendly communities. The forum was held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.
Centre on Aging researchers provided a full afternoon, presenting findings from their important work. Neena Chappell, presented "Caregiving: Family Still Matters."
A panel of UVic researchers included neurologist Brian Christie presented "Benefits of exercise for your brain: hope or hype" UVic anthropologist Peter Stephenson presented "Using Medicine as We Get Older"and UVic geographer Denise Cloutier-Fisher presented "Age-friendly communities: What have we learned?"
UVic psychologist Holly Tuokko unveiled a research-based theatre performance about older drivers entitled No Particular Place to Go.
