Seed Grants 2007

The successful applicants in our 3rd Seed Grant Competition for BC-based researchers working in the area of aging and health were announced January 31, 2008. Thirteen Seed Grants of $4,900 each were awarded as follows:

Research Team Development Grants

  • Team Leader: Dr. Lorienne M. Jenstad, UBC - Community Collaboration on Hearing and Aging
  • Team Leader: Dr. Penny MacCourt, UVic - Exploring Disenfranchised Grief in Dementia Caregiving

Exploratory/Pilot Study Grants

  • Team Leader: Dr. Jason J.S. Barton, UBC - Navigating in the elderly: Behavioural and MRI correlates of aging effects on the formation and use of cognitive maps of the environment
  • Team Leader: Ms Jennifer Baumbusch, VCH - Responding to the healthcare Needs of the Aging Population – The Geriatric Emergency Nurse
  • Team Leader: Dr. Ging-Yuek R. Hsiung, UBC – Pilot study to assess the feasibility and efficacy of computerized game in cognition training of patients with mild cognitive impairment
  • Team Leader: Dr. Laura Hurd Clarke, UBC - Examining Older Women’s Concepts of Physical Health Using Photovoice
  • Team Leader: Ms Kathryn Fields, IHA - Exploring the experiences of older adults with dementia during Snoezelen therapy – A pilot qualitative study focusing on inpatient geriatric psychiatry
